The Department of Labor and Employment – Isabela Field Office (DOLE-IFO) team facilitated a series of payout amounting to over P7M to a total of1,024 beneficiaries of the Department’s Government Internship Program (GIP) and Special Program of the Employment of Students (SPES) recently.
The GIP interns were assigned to various LGUs and government offices in the province to provide them with opportunities and engage young workers to serve the general public.
Shekina Cantor, a GIP beneficiary, meanwhile expressed her gratitude to the labor department for the provision of the said program.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa DOLE at kay Secretary Bello dahil nabibigyan po kami ng oportunidad na maipakita ang aming kakayanan na makapag trabaho sa ahensya ng gobyerno sa pamamagitan po ng GIP. Bukod po rito ay nakakatulong rin po ito sa aming pang pinansyal na pangangailangan.” Cantor said.
The DOLE-Government Internship Program provides three to six (3-6) months of internship opportunity for high school, technical-vocational, or college graduates who wants to pursue a career in public service in either local or national government.
Meanwhile, the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) is DOLE’s youth employment-bridging program which aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced workers to augment the family’s income to help ensure that beneficiaries are able to pursue their education. ### By: Ralph Earl Wayne Domingo
