The Department of Labor and Employment-Quirino Field Office (DOLE-QFO) awarded the stipends of 196 Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries from the Municipality of Aglipay on February 24, 2022. 

Each SPES beneficiary received Php 1,680.20 for 10 days of work rendered. The beneficiaries performed home-agriculture while others were deployed to various offices of the LGU Aglipay for office-related tasks. 

The payout was attended by DOLE-QFO Head Laura B. Diciano and her team, Municipal Mayor Jerry T. Agsalda, Public Employment Service Office Manager Ricky V. Montilla and his staff.

In her speech, Chief Diciano reiterated the agency’s commitment to serve the public, especially as the province tries to rebound from the difficulties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“Ang Department of Labor and Employment ay patuloy na magbibigay ng oportunidad upang makatulong sa mga nangangailan,” Diciano said. 

Meanwhile, Mayor Agsalda thanked DOLE for the assistance provided to his constituents while encouraging the beneficiaries to use their stipend for their education. 

“Ang perang ipinagkaloob sa inyo ay dapat gastusin sa tama at maayos na pamamaraan. Ang [pangarap] ko sa inyong lahat ay maging [matagumpay],” the Mayor said. 

The SPES is DOLE’s youth employment-bridging program which aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers during summer and/or Christmas vacation or any time of the year to augment the family’s income, ensuring that the beneficiaries are able to pursue their education. ###
