The 125th anniversary of the Philippine Independence will be commemorated with a set of activities throughout the country on June 12, 2023, carrying this year’s theme of “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”
As part of this year’s celebration, the DOLE Region 02 will hold a Kalayaan Job Fair in SM City Tuguegarao and Robinsons Place Santiago on the aforementioned date, with participating local establishments throughout the region offering job vacancies to job seekers on that day.
The online pre-registration starts on May 22, 2023 while an online Labor Education Seminar will be held on June 9, 2023.
A Trade and Business Fair where 10 DOLE-assisted associations and five DTI-assisted associations shall display and market their products in SM City Tuguegarao will also be a highlight on June 12.
The DOLE will also celebrate the World Day Against Child Labour as Araw ng Kalayaan para sa #BatangMalaya, which advocates for the right of every child to be a Batang Malaya, towards the pursuit of a child-labor free Philippines.
Medical and dental missions, immersion, storytelling and fun play through the provision of books and school supplies from the DA, DSWD, and DepEd, film viewing, pampering services such as hair cutting, massage, manicure and pedicure, and feeding and gift-giving activities in partnership with the JCI Tuguegarao Ybanag Chapter and SM shall be done as part of the Batang Malaya activity.
57 child laborers and their parents shall be provided with assistance. The Batang Malaya activities will be held in SM City Tuguegarao, Cordon, Isabela, and in the provinces of Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.
There will also be an awarding of government assistance, chief of which are the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and TUPAD, in various cities/municipalities in Region 02, mirroring the same set of awarding done during the Labor Day celebration last May 1, 2023.
The DOLE Region 02 meanwhile advises those interested to join the set of activities to check its DOLE Region 02 Facebook page for more updates. ###
