DOLE holds LEES and employment coaching to 1,400 high school students of Nueva Vizcaya

 

The DOLE-Region 02 through its Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) conducted a Labor and Employment Education Services (LEES) and Employment Coaching to 700 Grade 10 and 700 Grade 12 students of the Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on April 26-27, 2023.

The resource speakers for the two-day activity include the Public Employment Services Division of the Office of the Provincial Governor of Nueva Vizcaya (PESD-PLGU), TESDA, and DOST, who discussed topics such as choosing the right career and also gave information on their offices’ programs and services. 

Saint Mary’s University, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Aldersgate College Inc, PLT College, Inc. and Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Institute of Technology also presented their programs and services offered for various degree courses. 

The NVGCHS Assistant Principal meanwhile introduced the tracks and strands offered for Senior High School, including the criteria and things to expect when they choose to enroll in the track and strand of their choice offered by the school. 

Mr. Roldan R. Subia, a Batch 2006 graduate shared his inspirational and motivational journey, from all the hardships he went through to survive and finish his studies and be able to pursue his career. He shared that poverty is a temporary hindrance to one’s dream and it will become a permanent hindrance if a person will surrender to it.

“Dahil sa pangarap, tayong lahat ay magkakapareho pero sa pera tayo ay magkakaiba. Ang pangarap hinding hindi yan nauubos, pero ang pera, sobrang dali pong mawala,” Mr. Subia said to encourage those who have been doubted because of povert. He also reminded every student to acknowledge the efforts and sacrifices of their parents.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gerardo M. Nicolas, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, introduced DOLE’s programs and services including the current trends in the Labor Market. He reminded the students to be wise in decision-making, career planning and preparation, considering that DOLE is always there to provide the necessary assistance needed.  Ms. Monette Casauay-Aragon, Labor and Employment Officer III discussed Basic Labor Education, particularly on General Labor Standards (GLS). Ms. Deia G. Bruno of the same office meanwhile presented the topic of Employment Coaching to Grade 12 students, encompassing preparation needed for future interview and employment. The three main tips she emphasized to the learners were “Bringing Best, Looking Best, Thinking Best.” ###
