The Cagayan Valley Public Utility Bus Industry Tripartite Council (CV-PUB-ITC) held its first quarter meeting at the SB Hall, Local Government Unit of San Mateo, Isabela last March 31, 2023 in order to strengthen the transportation industry in Isabela Province.
The said meeting was attended by around 64 PUB owners, operators and workers’ representatives.
In her opening message, DOLE-Isabela Field Office (IFO) Provincial Director, Ms. Evelyn S. Yango commended the active participation of the PUB employers and employees’ representative which she says shall lead to the betterment of the transportation industry in the province.
"I urge everyone to continuously work together in a tripartite approach and help identify solutions on labor and employment issues and concerns affecting the PUB industry," Provincial Director Yango said.
She also emphasized the importance of their voluntary compliance to General Labor Standards (GLS) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards that shall result to industrial peace.
The meeting included a reorientation on Department Order No. 118-12 or the Rules and Regulations Governing the Employment and Working Conditions of Drivers and Conductors in the Public Utility Bus Transport Industry by the DOLE RO2’s Labor Relations Unit.
The meeting also included the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) II providing technical assistance in accomplishing the updated and revised compensation scheme followed by an open forum.
The meeting proper was presided by Vice Chair for Employees Mr. Roy Alvarado, along with Vice Chair for Employers Mr. Jumel Manuel.
The agenda discussed included the following: draft of internal rules and guidelines, draft of Voluntary Code of Good Practices (VCGP) and draft resolutions for issues on Colorum buses, kotong, and certain LTFRB special permits.
"Kailangan nating makipagtulungan para maitayo natin ang bandera ng CV PUB ITC lalo na sa ating mga small/local PUBs," Mr. Alvarado remarked during the meeting.
The next meeting of the ITC will be on June 2023. ###
