Livelihood starter kits worth P600,000 were awarded to twenty-one (21) jeepney operators and drivers under the EnTSUPERneur Project of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on March 2, 2023 at Aritao Terminal, Nueva Vizcaya.
The starter kits shall be used for livelihood opportunities on carwash services, rice retailing, dressmaking/tailoring, sari-sari store, carpentry services, auto mechanic, vulcanizing services, welding services, baking and food vending worth P30,000 each.
In a speech during the awarding ceremony, DOLE-Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) Chief Elizabeth U. Martinez, representing DOLE Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales and Assistant Regional JEsus Elpidio B. Atal, Jr., mentioned the collaboration among the DOLE, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) which made the provision of assistance to the beneficiaries possible.
"Sa pagkaka-isa ng DOLE, LTFRB at OTC, handog namin itong tulong na ito sa inyo. Husayan at sipagan sana ninyo upang lumago ang tulong pang-kabuhayan na ito," Chief Martinez said.
She was joined by Aritao Municipal Mayor Remelina M. Peros-Galam, LGU Aritao PESO Manager Designate, Ms. Reyna Lyn Maylas, LTFRB Community Development Officer II, Ms. Shendy Anne Catulin, LTFRB Project Development Officer I, Ms. Joebert Cabanilla, Technical Support Assistants, Ms. Hope Tamayo and Ms. Sunshine Dela Cruz and BASFTC Cooperative Chairman, Mr. Reynaldo Lavaro.
Mr. Marvin Libid, one of the beneficiaries of the livelihood assistance, expressed his enthusiasm and gratefulness for the assistance provided that he says shall help him provide for the needs of his family moving forward.
"Salamat po sa DOLE, LTFRB at OTC sa tulong na ito. Salamat hindi niyo po kami pinabayaan. Malaking bagay at tulong po ito sa mga kagaya kong tsuper," Ms. Libid said.
A Business and Work Improvement Course (BWIC) was also conducted to aid the beneficiaries on proper management of the business or livelihood project, to include lectures on Entrepreneurship, Productivity, 5S, Simple Bookkeeping and Workshop and Occupational Safety and Health. ###
