Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - An amount of P88K in monetary benefits was awarded to three (3) workers from this city on February 22, 2023, covering payment for their employer’s violations on General Labor Standards (GLS), to include underpayment of minimum wage under RTWPB Wage Order No. 21, non-payment of premium pay for rest days and special holidays, non-payment of regular holiday pays, 13th month pays and underpayment of premium pay on rest days and special days.

The turnover was facilitated by the Technical Support Services Division (TSSD) of DOLE- Regional Office No. 2 through Senior Labor and Employment Officer, Ms. Arcely D. Parallag and comes after two (2) mandatory conferences between the employer’s representative and the three (3) complainants held recently, culminating in the awarding of the check on the above-mentioned date.

The noted violations under GLS were obtained through a Complaint Inspection conducted by Labor Inspector Melchor T.  Ines on January 26, 2023.

The DOLE Region 02 through Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales and Assistant Regional Director Jesus Elpidio B. Atal, Jr. meanwhile encourages workers with work-related concerns to head to the nearest DOLE office in their area for fast and efficient assistance to their issues. ###
