The DOLE-Regional Office No. 02 received two (2) national plaques of recognition for inspection excellence at the Labor Inspection Summit with the theme: Firming Up Labor Inspection Capabilities through Synergistic Actions towards Ensuring Decent Work held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on February 9-10, 2023.
The two national awards were bestowed to the region for its high compliance to General Labor Standards (GLS) and Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) for 2022, a testament to the commitment given by the DOLE RO2 and its field offices in ensuring compliance of establishments to GLS and OSHS for the benefit of workers in the Cagayan Valley Region.
The plaques were personally awarded by DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma to Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales. The Secretary was assisted by Undersecretary for General Administration and Regional Operations Cluster, Ciriaco A. Lagunzad III and Undersecretary for Legislative Liaison and Legal Affairs Cluster, Atty. Felipe N. Egargo, Jr.
DOLE RO2 also placed fourth out of 16 regions in a Battle of the Brains: Inspection Edition during the summit, participated by Senior Labor and Employment Officers’ Alexander Garcia and Onofre James Mendoza and Assistant Labor Inspectors’ Bonifacio Cainguitan, Donna Lei Laddit and Aiza Leyno.
The two-day Labor Summit aims to augmenting the competency of Labor Inspectors and Inspection Managers to enable them to conduct vibrant dialogues, develop responsive strategies and facilitate the dynamic exchange of information with employers, employees and other stakeholders throughout the country.
The Labor Summit was attended by over 1,300 DOLE personnel nationwide comprising of DOLE Senior Officials, Regional Directors, Labor Inspectors and Assistant Labor Inspectors. ###
