Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya – The DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) witnessed the contract signing for the first locally funded Government Internship Program (GIP) with the Municipality of Dupax del Norte on January 11, 2023.

The activity is a result of Ordinance No. 2022-266, entitled "An Ordinance Institutionalizing and Localizing the Government Internship Program (GIP) of the Department of Labor and Employment in the Municipality of Dupax del Norte, providing Guidelines and Appropriating Funds Thereof," authored by Hon. Agongan D. Arsenio and all Sangguniang Bayan members.

As part of the contract signing, about thirty (30) new interns will serve for three months at a daily wage equivalent to the region's minimum wage.

Provincial Director of DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Elizabeth U. Martinez graced the said event in behalf of Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales, together with Monette Casauay-Aragon, Unit Head of the Employment Facilitation Program and Alicia Mason, GIP Focal Person at Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya.

 “Kudos to those who made this possible. By the end of the day, we have high hopes, that with our concerted efforts, we will be able to give a future to our GIP Beneficiaries and also come up with a strong relationship which will eventually bind us in lasting partnership for the common good,” PD Martinez said.

Vice Mayor Victorino V. Prado and his Sangguniang Bayan members and PESO Manager Catalino V. Abbagu, Jr., MDRRMO, OIC-HRMO in behalf of Mayor Atty. Timothy Joseph E. Cayton, J.D. were also present during the event.

“GIP beneficiaries, be good in your work. In this program, you have the chance to experience what it's like to work for the government. Your prospects of finding work are excellent if you do well,” Vice Mayor Prado said.

The GIP aims to generate employment especially to our youth by providing three to six (3-6) months internship opportunity for high school, technical-vocational, or college graduates who want to pursue a career in public service in either local or national government. ###
