361 beneficiaries of the DOLE’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) in Quirino province received the 40% of their salaries as the DOLE’s counterpart at the Capitol Grand Stand, Cabarroguis, Quirino.

The DOLE-Quirino Field Office (QFO) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Quirino led the said payout which aims to support the beneficiaries’ financial needs.

According to DOLE-QFO Head Ms. Geraldine Labayani, the SPES serves as a transitional tool for beneficiaries to develop skills and get work experience they can later on use in their professional careers.

“This initiative allows recipients to earn the money required to cover their basic necessities, such as tuition fees,” PD Labayani said.

The program helps poor but deserving students and out-of-school youth, or displaced workers have working opportunities in case of business closures, work stoppages, or natural calamities. ###
