521 Cagayan students join LEES and DOLE’s CGAP orientation

521 Grade 10-12 students from 5 schools in the province of Cagayan namely: Solana National High School, Sto. Niño National High School (SNHS), Lubo National High School (LNHS), Abariongan National High School (ANHS), and Namucayan Integrated School (NIS) participated in a Career Guidance Advocacy Program (CGAP) orientation facilitated by the Department of Labor and Employment – Cagayan Field Office (DOLE-CFO) and the Local Government Units of Solana and Sto. Niño, Cagayan on June 8, 15, and 16, 2022.

DOLE services on employment facilitation, workers’ protection, and social security coverage for employees were discussed along with the benefits of proper career management. A labor education was also conducted to prepare the graduating students for work.

“An Approach to a Productive Career Choice was lectured by Ms. Mae Zarah D. Alejo for the benefit of the incoming additions to the country’s labor force, explaining that a proper mindset and good habits are essential towards attaining a career or dream job that they ought to pursue in life.

The students were also informed on the DOLE employment bridging programs particularly the Government Internship Program (GIP) and Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) to shorten jobseekers' transition from school to work by preparing them through actual employment.

The Career Guidance Advocacy is a flagship program of the department as employment facilitation intermediation services for the youth to provide relevant information as guide for them in making informed professional choices. ###
