The Department of Labor and Employment – Quirino Field Office (DOLE-QFO) Provincial Director Laura B. Diciano was guest of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Tipon-Tipan on June 1, 2022 in Cabarroguis, Quirino.

This was broadcasted live through the 92.1 DWQP FM radio station and PIA Quirino facebook live.

In the interview, Provincial Director Diciano emphasized the Wage Order No. 02-21, highlighting the new minimum wage for various work sectors in Region 02 after a series of public hearings and a public consultation conducted by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) headed by DOLE RO2 Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales.

The RTWPB successfully deliberated for a wage hike to all employees working in the private sector as way to cope with the rising price of commodities in the midst of the continuing COVID-19 health crisis.

There are two tranches for the new minimum wage hike. The first tranche will take effect on June 8, 2022 with an increase of P30 per day, while the second tranche will take effect on January 1, 2023 with an increase of P20 per day. This involves three categories: the non-agriculture, agriculture, and retail/service.

For non-agricultural, the P370.00 per day will increase to P400.00 per day; for the agricultural sector, P345.00 per day will increase to P375.00; and for the retail/service, the P345.00 per day will increase to P375.00.

For the second tranche, the non-agricultural sector will be indulging into a P420.00 per day wage rate; the agricultural sector will be increased to P400.00 per day wage; while the retail/service sector will be increased to P420.00 per day.

On October 1, 2022, the retail/service sector will be having an increase from P375.00 per day to P400.00 per day.

In the interview, Ms. Diciano also discussed the increase in the minimum wage of domestic workers to Php1,000.00 this year.

Diciano also touched on the two (2) job fairs in support to the Independence Day celebration that shall be facilitated by the field office: June 21, 2022 at Old Cabarroguis Municipal Hall, Zamora, Cabarroguis, Quirino and July 4, 2022 in Diffun, Quirino.

Meanwhile, Diciano assured that the DOLE-QFO continues to address all issues and concerns despite the recent barrage about some of the Department’s programs. Manager Bicarme described the public offices as a “working government’ thereafter.
