212 hired-on-the-spot, P61.8M in DILEEP assistance awarded in DOLE RO2 job fair


Tuguegarao City - 212 job seekers were hired-on-the-spot in the day-long Independence Day Job Fair of the DOLE RO2 in Robinsons Place Tuguegarao City today.

The job fair was held in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Tuguegarao City and the aforementioned mall, paired with an online job fair powered by Workbank that started on June 10.

The online and face-to-face job fair was able to pool together 3,257 job seekers. Job vacancies offered for local employment and abroad reached 4,365 from 59 establishments that joined the job fair.

A TUPAD check amounting to P55,880,000 was also awarded by the DOLE RO2, through Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales and Assistant Regional Director Jesus Elpidio B. Atal, Jr., to the Provincial Government of Cagayan through Governor Manuel Mamba. A TUPAD check amounting to P3.7M was also awarded to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Peñablanca, Cagayan through Mayor Washington Taguinod while livelihood checks amounting to P159K and P1.2M for Starter Kits and NegoKarts were awarded to LGUs Tuguegarao City through Mayor Jefferson Soriano and Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, respectively.

The DOLE RO2 also awarded livelihood check amounting to P638,600 for 25 SinTax beneficiaries while 11 parents of child laborers benefitted from an amount of P274,384.

The day’s activities also included a One-Stop-Shop for services offered by partner agencies such as the PSA, TESDA, Pag-Ibig, DTI, SSS, DFA, DOT, and PhilHealth. DOLE Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) members from the NCMB, OSHC, ECC, NLRC, OWWA, NRCO, RTWPB, and POEA also attended the job fair.

A business and trade fair featuring DOLE RO2 and DTI RO2 assisted associations’ and individual beneficiaries’ products from Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino was also on display and on sale for participants of the Independence Day Job Fair as well as a free training for job fair participants facilitated by the DTI and TESDA.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing was also facilitated by the regional office with DOH RO2 accredited COVID-19 testing centers as part of DOLE Department Order No. 233-22 providing Guidelines on Provisions of Free COVID-19 Testing for Newly-Hired Jobseekers that was attended by the Southern Isabela Medical Center, the San Antonio City of Ilagan Hospital, the Cagayan Valley Medical Center and the Philippine Red Cross Molecular Laboratory.

A free COVID-19 vaccination as part of DOH’s Bayanihan, Bakunahan vaccination drive was  facilitated for healthy, able and willing job fair participants as a contribution to the ongoing advocacy of the government against the dreaded virus.

DOLE RO2 staff who attended the job fair include Technical Support Services Division (TSSD) Chief Geraldine Labayani, Internal Management Services Division (IMSD) Reginald B. Estioco, Cagayan Field Office (CFO) Chief Elizabeth Martinez, Isabela Field Office (IFO) Chief Evelyn Yango, Quirino Field Office (QFO) Chief Laura Diciano, and Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) Head Grace A. Pomar. Batanes Satellite Office (BSO) Head Jonnel Domingo attended the event through ZOOM.

Other partners who graced the activity include DTI RO2 Assistant Regional Director Winston Singun, TESDA-Cagayan Provincial Director Genaro Ronald Ibay, National Tobacco Corporation Manager Gilbert A. Taguiam, LGU Sanchez Mira, Cagayan Sangguniang Bayan Member Benjamin Oroseo.
