Novo Vizcayano former rebels receive livelihood kit from DOLE

Four (4) former rebels received their livelihood kits in a simple ceremony attended by DOLE-Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) Provincial Director Grace A. Pomar and staffs, PLTCOL James Nalliw, Provincial Deputy Director for Operations, PCOL Billy Mangali, Chief Provincial Operations Unit, Police Major (PMAJ) Orlando M. Tacio, Chief Provincial Community Affairs Development Unit and Police Lieutenant Gerald V. Tutaan, Platton Leader, and 1st Maneuver Platoon 1st NVPMF of the Philippine National Police, on May 17, 2022 at the VPPO Acosta Hall, Camp Saturnino Dumlao, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The beneficiaries came from the municipalities of Bagabag and Villaverde, each receiving livelihood kits consisting of vegetable crop-growing equipment and welding tools and supplies.

“Ang aming tunay na hangarin ay ang magkaroon ng totoong kapayapaan sa aming mga buhay,” one of the beneficiaries said during the awarding ceremony.

In his message, Police Lieutenant Colonel Nalliw highlighted continuing government assistance to former rebels as a way to hasten their reintegration back to society.

Meanwhile, Provincial Director Grace A. Pomar highlighted the importance of the sustainability of livelihood programs offered by the government.

The livelihood kits were awarded as DOLE’s contribution to the government’s efforts to end local communist armed conflicts and to promote peace and well-being for the lives of former rebel. ###
