Turning pages into new chapters

A person’s stepping stone in a successful career is through perseverance. Christine Antonette Parong–Dalion’s journey proved this standpoint. She’s a 29-year-old married woman from Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. She was the eldest among five siblings and she always believed that she should lead and be a role model for them. From then on, she grew up as a strong and independent woman.

During her college days, there’s a certain instance in her life that their family was financially challenged, since her parents send all of them in tertiary education. She used this experience as motivation to pursue and finish her studies.

“After I graduated, I became a call center agent for 6 months in Pasay when a certain local recruitment agency approached me to apply for a BPO company. I could remember being excited and nervous looking for my first job and not knowing what the future holds. After that I became a licensed financial advisor in [another] company,” Dalion said in an interview.

Growth is an inevitable part of life which always entails a series of challenges. Ms. Dalion also had her struggles in life when she was still part of the BPO industry in Manila. Said struggle was mainly rooted in adjustment.

Being able to immediately adjust your time and adapt to your environment in a different town is hard, but in the real world, it’s a do or die scenario where you need to step out of your comfort zone to help yourself walk the path that you want to venture on.

She immediately looked for another work after her first employment and luckily, she was hired as an intern under the Government Internship Program (GIP) at Department of Labor and Employment – Nueva Vizcaya (DOLE-NVFO).

Everybody has a story to tell; but if her story were to be featured, Dalion chose “Libro” as her story-title.

“Libro, when I entered DOLE after my GIP, I was a 1st year law student. DOLE helped me a lot to open another chapter of my life that had challenges, twists of fate, lessons to learn and life to grow. What I have right now gives me an opportunity to become a better version of myself.  My first step at DOLE as a GIP ignited my will to be part of this department and become a public servant. I was surrounded by great people in DOLE who helped me to dream bigger and to work harder. DOLE gave me a chance to prove that career growth with the department is possible and all what you’ve worked hard for will be recognized and be validated”.

A book full of new beginnings, every page compiled of chapters that describe her as a person. Her credentials as a professional are indeed impressive. Now on her fourth year in Law School, she paved her way from being GIP. She gave her best in every task she handles. Through hard work and perseverance, she got a permanent job and promoted as a Department Legislative Liaison Specialist (DLLS) under the Office of the Secretary in Intramuros, Manila. Her journey went from a book cover to chapters and being created on a path she fiercely braved. ###
