Rizal, Cagayan - The Department of Labor and Employment Region 2, represented by Ms. Johanna Jocelyn Alan, Senior Labor and Employment Officer (Sr. LEO), joined the Duterte Legacy Caravan organized by the Philippine National Police Region 2 on May 7, 2022.
The activity aims to promote livelihood assistance and opportunities to extend immediate help to Former Rebel (FR) members of Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) and Militia ng Bayan who recently surrendered to the government.
Ms. Alan presented DOLE’s accomplishment. In 2021, the department was able to disbursed P32.4M assistance to 100 identified focus barangays. This benefitted 4,726 workers from the informal sector across the 4 provinces in the region most particularly in Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya under the emergency employment program or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, 158 workers under the Government Internship Program (GIP), and 110 displaced workers catered as recipients of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Meanwhile, Ms. Alan conducted a brief orientation on the DOLE’s livelihood program and TUPAD emergency employment program. This aims to apprise the FRs in DOLE’s possible intervention for job and livelihood opportunities. She highlighted the close coordination and efforts of various government agencies in assisting FRs in the province. ###
