Regional job seekers flock DOLE RO2’s Labor Day job fair, 51 hired-on-the-spot


Santiago City - A total of 967 job seekers flocked the DOLE - Regional Office No. 02’s job and trade fair, both online and face-to-face, during the celebration of the 120th Labor Day at Robinson’s Place in this city earlier today, producing a total of 51 job seekers who were hired-on-the-spot. 


Among the activities offered during the one-day activity were a blended job fair participated by 63 employers with 2,528 jobs offered, including 1,904 local and 624 overseas.


A Labor Education Seminar and Employment Coaching was also held, along with a One-Stop-Shop for services offered by partner agencies such as the PSA, TESDA, Pag-Ibig, DTI, NBI, SSS, PhilHealth, and the City Health Office of Santiago. DOLE Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) members who joined the activity included the NCMB, OSHC, ECC, NLRC, OWWA, NRCO, RTWPB, and POEA. 


 P In the spirit of convergence, participation, and cooperation, a business/trade fair featuring DOLE RO2 and DTI RO2 assisted association’s varied products from Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino was also on display and on sale for participants of the Labor Day Job Fair, helping local associations thrive as a result. 


An entrepreneurship training was also done by the regional office in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 02 while the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region 02 partnered with the DOLE RO2 for a skills training with registered participants. 


The activity is the second consecutive job fair to be held in the city, this after a similar job fair was held in the same locality to commemorate the DOLE’s 88th anniversary in December 2021. 


In recognition of their support to the activity, a Plaque of Appreciation were given to the City Government of Santiago and Robinsons Place Santiago. A livelihood check worth P500K was also awarded to the Local Government Unit of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya. 


In addition, Safety Seal Certifications were awarded to 3 establishments from Isabela Province, to include: San Miguel Foods Inc., East Pacific Star Bottlers Phils. Inc., and the SN Aboitiz Power Magat, Inc. 


Today’s job fair was led by Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales and Assistant Regional Director Jesus Elpidio B. Atal, Jr. The pair was assisted by Technical Support Services Division (TSSD) Chief Geraldine Labayani, Internal Management Services Division (IMSD) Reginald B. Estioco, Cagayan Field Office (CFO) Chief Grace A. Pomar, Isabela Field Office (IFO) Chief Evelyn Yango, Quirino Field Office (QFO) Chief Laura Diciano, and Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) Head Elizabeth Martinez. Batanes Satellite Office (BSO) Head Jonnel Domingo attended the event through ZOOM. 


In his speech, Director Gonzales mentioned the partnership with the Local Government Unit of Santiago City for making the activity possible as well as Robinsons Place Santiago for maximizing the chances that more job seekers attend the activity.

The Local Government Unit of Santiago City was meanwhile represented by Mayor, Engr. Joseph Tan. Solano, Nueva Vizcaya Mayor Eufemia Dacayo also attended the activity. ###
