DOLE-CFO conducts orientation on PESO Institutionalization


Solana, Cagayan - With its drive to strengthen and expand the employment facilitation service machinery of the labor department in the province, the DOLE – Cagayan Field Office (CFO) conducted an orientation on the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) institutionalization to this town's Executive and Legislative Body recently.

In the said event, DOLE RO2 Assistant Regional Director Jesus B. Elpidio Atal, Jr. discussed the salient features of RA 8759 or the Public Employment Service Office Act of 1999, as amended by RA 10691. ARD Atal, Jr. highlighted the core objective of PESO to ensure prompt, timely, and efficient delivery of full-cycle employment facilitation services.

“Our PESO Managers’ role in employment facilitation is integral to our campaign in addressing the issues of unemployment and underemployment in the country, especially in our province,” ARD Atal said.

Meanwhile, DOLE-CFO Chief Grace A. Pomar discussed the Implementing Rules and Regulation highlighting the important role of PESO Managers in the provision of integrated, collaborative, and systematic delivery of employment services by providing Labor Market Information (LMI) services, referral and placement services for local and overseas employment agencies, career advocacy, employment coaching, among others.

DOLE-CFO Acting Supervising Labor and Employment Officer and PESO focal person Liezel Magno meanwhile shared with LGU officials how PESO Lasam, Gonzaga, Sanchez Mira, and Iguig went through with their institutionalization. She emphasized the important roles of both the executive and legislative bodies in supporting the PESO Program.

The orientation was attended by Mayor Jennalyn Carag, Vice Mayor Meynard Z. Carag, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Members, Department Heads and PESO Manager Mayeth Ubina, who all had a positive response to the said presentations. ###
