A 3-day series of payouts for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program in Cagayan province was able to assist a total of 5,519 beneficiaries from six municipalities and one city and a total amount P24.2M disbursed.

The said beneficiaries came from the municipalities of Solana, Sta. Teresita, Baggao, Tuguegarao City, Sto. Niño, Sta. Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez Mira, and Ballesteros, who rendered community work in their areas and received compensation amounting to P370 per day.

DOLE RO2 Assistant Regional Director Jesus Elpidio B. Atal, Jr. led the first leg of the payout in Sta. Praxedes, noting that the DOLE shall provide continuous assistance to needy displaced workers in his speech.

Sta. Praxedes Mayor Esterlina Aguinaldo meanwhile was effusive of her praise to the DOLE and Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III for the assistance provided to her constituents who were displaced because of the after-effects of the pandemic.

Mr. Orlando V. Languido, a TUPAD beneficiary from Sanchez Mira town, said that the assistance he received is a big relief for him as he can now buy for the immediate needs of his family.

"Sobrang laki ng tulong na ito dahil wala akong trabaho sa ngayon. Hirap akong makabili ng pangangailangan ng pamilya ko lalo na sa pagkain kaya salamat sa DOLE," Mr. Languido said. ###
