DOLE-RO2 leads PESO year-end assessment, employment training and quarterly meeting in Baguio City

As the DOLE Regional Office No. 02 gears for another year of programs’ implementation in the Cagayan Valley Region, an assessment, training and meeting commenced for partner Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers in Baguio City earlier today.

PESO managers enable the labor department to swiftly and efficiently deliver programs and services to its intended beneficiaries, with the DOLE’s accomplishments mirroring its synergy with the former.

Today’s set of activities started with a welcome message from DOLE-CAR OIC-Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Anthony Wooden Jr., noting the significant contributions of PESOs in the accomplishments of the DOLE over the years.

The set of activities included a presentation and assessment of PESOs’ accomplishments for 2021, a target setting workshop for the current year and updates on PESO institutionalization.

The DOLE RO2 contingent was led by Assistant Regional Director Jesus Elpidio B. Atal, Jr., in behalf of Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales who is currently in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur for a planning activity with personnel from the DOLE Central Office and other regional offices.

We need to strengthen our PESOs in the region so we can better implement our programs and services. This is the year of the PESO as we look to push for its institutionalization. LGUs now have funds to create permanent positions for you [PESOs] due to the Mandanas ruling and the requirement for the Seal of Good Local Governance now need the assistance of PESOs,” Director Atal, Jr. said in his opening message.

The two-day activity shall conclude tomorrow with a discussion on DOLE programs’ updates to be led by DOLE RO2 provincial directors. ###
