Strengthening the mind and resolve by understanding the basics of Labor Law and Legislation

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
– Benjamin Franklin

As the world constantly evolves in its environment, technology, and people, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) resiliently adapts by ensuring that its services may have far-reaching effects on the lives of its clientele.

As part of its constitutional mandate to promote gainful employment and affirm labor as a primary social economic force, the DOLE has endeavored to execute the ideals of the fundamental law of protection of the rights of workers and the promotion of their welfare through Labor Education Seminars.

The empowerment and assurance of protected rights of workers do not solely require the active involvement of this Department but more so, the strengthening of an employee’s knowledge on pertinent labor laws, rules, and regulations pertinent to his cause. It is the supreme wisdom and resolute education that equips one to defend himself should circumstances require an equitable stand.

Towards this end, the DOLE-Regional Office No. 02’s Cagayan Field Office on 21 and 23 of February 2022 was able to reach out to 402 employees on two separate seminars.

On the first seminar hosted by the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) in Sta. Ana, Cagayan, a total of 120 employees participated in a jobs fair and Labor Education. The seminar included the discussion of Basic Rights and Obligations of Workers under the Labor Standards.

The second seminar was conducted online through ZOOM platform which was participated by 282 employees from various establishments throughout the province of Cagayan. Amongst the discussions were Basic Rights and Obligations, the Things that Need be Known on the Administrative Remedy of Single Entry Approach (SEnA) and the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).

The events were successfully concluded after a question and answer portion as an avenue for participants to air more specific and situational inquiries on different concerns within the scope of Labor Law and other Social Legislations.

The Cagayan Field Office shall remain steadfast in its goal to render dedicated and meaningful service to clients of the province.
