Ilagan City, Isabela - A convergence of regional line agencies teamed-up for the nationwide simultaneous launch of the Duterte Legacy: Barangayanihan Caravan Towards National Recovery in all 17 regions of the country earlier today.

The caravan aims to pool together all government agencies as well as partners from the private sector, with the aim of informing the general public of the government’s programs and accomplishments.

The activity also intends to bring basic services down to the grassroots level, offering on-ground services to participants.

DOLE Secretary Silvestre ‘Bebot’ Bello III, the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for the Cagayan Valley Region, spearheaded the regional activity, baring the latest updates, developments and accomplishments of the Duterte Administration in his keynote speech.

The secretary specifically mentioned the DOLE’s accomplishments along industrial peace and assistance to informal sector workers through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, formal sector workers affected by the pandemic through the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) and OFWs retrenched/repatriated through the DOLE-AKAP Program.

The DOLE RO2 for its part was led by Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales and brought with it an online job fair for participants who were attending online. The said job fair will run for 10 days to give job seekers more chances for employment.

Secretary Bello also awarded a check amounting to P75M for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program to the Provincial Government of Isabela through Governor Rodito Albano and Vice Governor Bojie Dy. Diaz for DOLE’s Government Internship Program (GIP) and a check amounting to P1M for TUPAD to LGU Roxas, Isabela through Jonathan Jose C. Calderon.

The caravan, led by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), is expected to conduct additional regional caravans in the barangay level in the next coming months, with a focus on identified-influenced areas to increase knowledge on government programs as well provide services to individuals living in hotspots.
