DOLE grants TUPAD wages, livelihood assistance to Sanchez Mira benefs
The DOLE RO2 continues its distribution of assistance to displaced workers, this time distributing wages and livelihood assistance to 582 beneficiaries from Sanchez Mira, Cagayan today.
Of the figure, 544 beneficiaries worked for 15 days under the labor department’s program for emergency employment, the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) led by Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III, with an amount of more than P3M handed over during the payout.
28 underemployed indigenous people from the Langagan Weavers Association meanwhile received kits under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) to support the beneficiaries’ livelihood in handicraft production and selling/marketing. A total amount of P663,208.00 was utilized for the purchase of the said kits and the beneficiaries’ GSIS insurance.
DOLE RO2 Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales personally graced the event, along with Sanchez Mira Mayor Asela B. Sacramed and Provincial Administrator Darwin Sacramed, representing Governor Manuel Mamba.
“Sana sa pamamagitan ng mga programa at serbisyong binibigay ng DOLE ay matulungan kayong mabago ang inyong mga buhay,” Director Gonzales said in his speech.
Mayor Sacramed meanwhile expressed her gratitude for the continuous provision of assistance from DOLE to the qualified beneficiaries of the town, noting the labor department’s efficient delivery of programs and services.
The regional office has so far assisted 79,744 beneficiaries and an amount of P443,563,065.17 disbursed under its TUPAD program for 2021 as well as 876 beneficiaries provided with starter kits and Nego-Kart amounting to P24,760,601.50 under the DILP. ###
