DOLE RO2 conducts investigation on construction death in Nueva Vizcaya

Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya - A team of DOLE - Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) labor inspectors conducted an Occupational Safety and Health Investigation (OSHI) on a reported construction related death of four (4) construction workers in Barangay Naduntog, Tiblak in this town yesterday.

The construction accident occurred on September 3, 2021 involving workers who were clearing an excavation site in preparation for the casting of gravel bed when the soil suddenly eroded, burying the former.

The said construction project was privately owned. It had numerous OSH violations noted by the labor inspectors including no Safety Officer, no first aider, no appropriate personal protective equipment (PPEs) for construction, no safety signage, no first aid kit and no approved construction safety and health program (CSHP).

Workers also weren’t covered with SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-Ibig.

Due to the OSH violations, the DOLE RO2 approved the issuance of a Work Stoppage Order (WSO) which was served immediately to the employer's authorized representative.

A schedule for mandatory conference will be conducted on September 6, 2021.

Workers are likewise encouraged to report any work-related violations/concerns to the nearest DOLE offices so it can be acted upon immediately. ### By: Onofre James Mendoza, Senior LEO, DOLE RO2
