Youths in 4 Cagayan towns receive boost from DOLE’s TUPAD

Allacapan, Cagayan - A total of 208 youth beneficiaries of DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program from Cagayan municipalities of Allacapan, Abulug, Ballesteros and Lasam received their assistance at a payout conducted in this town earlier today.

Lubos akong nagtitiwala na ating makakayanan ang pagsubok ng pamdemyang ito sa pamamagitan ng iba’t-ibang programa ng gobyerno gaya ng TUPAD ng DOLE,” Secretary Silvestre ‘Bebot’ Bello III said in a recorded message played during the payout.

DOLE Assistant Secretary Victor Del Rosario attended the event in behalf of Secretary Silvestre Bello.

In his speech, Del Rosario mentioned that one of the DOLE’s priorities in the pandemic is the provision of assistance to affected workers, especially those from the informal sector.

Del Rosario said.

Regional Director Joel Gonzales meanwhile thanked the participants for the privilege to serve them through DOLE’s programs and services.

Maraming salamat sa pribilehiyo na kami ay makapagsilbi sa inyo,” Director Gonzales said.

The beneficiaries meanwhile expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided.

Divine Villacillo, one of the beneficiaries from Allacapan town, said that the assistance she received will go a long way towards helping her family’s finances which she says has taken a hit ever since the pandemic started.

Dakkel nga tulong atuy naalak tatta tapnu magatang mi agijay masapul mi iti balay. Agyaman nak la unay ti inted ti DOLE nga tulong (Malaking tulong itong aking nakuha upang mabili namin ang mga pangangailangan namin. Maraming salamat sa ibinigay ng DOLE na tulong), Divine said.

Additionally, the DSWD Field Office 02 provided financial assistance to the 208 beneficiaries through the agency’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS). The Office of Senator Bong Go also provided free face masks, face shields and vitamins to the beneficiaries as well as bicycles, tablets and laptops to select beneficiaries.

Allacapan, Cagayan Mayor Harry D. Florida, the host for today’s event, also expressed his desire and willingness to hold similar activities that the agency may have in the future, noting the positive impact similar activities will have to the beneficiaries and the municipality as a whole.

The event was also attended by staff from DOLE RO2 and its Cagayan-Batanes Field Office (CBFO). ###
