Bello, Nograles, lead DOLE payout of more than P90M to 6,549 beneficiaries, oversee Pre-SONA series

Tuguegarao City – DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles led an awarding of DOLE programs and services amounting to more than P90M earlier today at the DOLE RO2 grounds, benefitting a total of 6,549 beneficiaries.

A total of 6,481 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) were awarded physically and remotely in various payout sites in the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya, connected to the main venue through ZOOM.

DILP checks intended for the procurement of starter kits, Nego Karts and motorized bancas were also awarded to the Provincial Government of Isabela and the local government units of Alfonso Castaneda, Nueva Vizcaya, San Manuel and San Isidro, Isabela and Tuguegarao City and Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan.

Additionally, a total of 31 OFWs and their dependents were awarded with assistance through the DOLE AKAP and Tabang Programs of the DOLE in partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

The agency through OWWA then awarded assistance to 37 beneficiaries of its ‘Sa ‘Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir’ (SPIMS), an employment reintegration program of OFWs who are Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) passers.

Moreover, a turnover of the Regional Office building between the DOLE and the DPWH was conducted in a ceremony formally transferring the building to the labor department.

DOLE’s activity was attended by Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, PCOO Undersecretary George Apacible, Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba, Isabela Governor Rodolfo Albano III, Congressman Antonio Albano, Congressman Allan Ty, Quirino Governor Dakila Cua, while Nueva Vizcaya Governor Carlos Padilla and Batanes Governor Marilou Cayco attended through ZOOM.

The afternoon activities succeeded the ‘Kasama sa Pamana: Regional Pre-SONA Series’ conducted at Penablanca, Cagayan in the morning where secretaries’ Bello and Nograles led a contingent of government officials in a succession of activities recapping the gains of the Duterte Administration in the region for the last five years, the plans of the government for the rest of the administrations term and COVID-19 actions conducted.

Additional TUPAD payouts benefitting 2,543 beneficiaries shall be conducted on May 6, 2021 in Ilagan City and Roxas, Isabela and in Tuao, Cagayan on May 7, 2021. ###
