DOLE NVFO assists in the election of new NUVELU officers

An election of officers capped an eventful general assembly conducted by the NUVELCO Employees Labor Union (NUVELU) at the NUVELCO Multipurpose Hall, Barangay Gabut, Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya last February 23, 2021.

Mr. Gerry M. Nicolas, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of the Department of Labor and Employment - Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (DOLE-NVFO), was tasked in assisting the union in the said activity.

The oath-taking of the new NUVELU Officers officially declared the elected officers’ assumption for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Public Relations Officer, Business Manager, Sergeant-at-Arms and Board of Directors.

NUVELU President Michelle Daulayan meanwhile pledged to lead the Union for the betterment of each member and to establish a better partnership with the Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative (NUVELCO) management and committed to support the latter’s operations.


NUVELCO Project Supervisor and Acting General Manager Engr. Virgilio L. Montano meanwhile appreciated the full support of the NUVELU officers and members for their support in all of its endeavor since the inception of the union.  

Further, the newly elected NUVELU Officers and members pledged to continuously demonstrate unity and sustain an image of being a model of good deeds among its membership that could uplift the status of NUVELCO into a “AAA” electric cooperative category. This includes prompt services in the remote areas that should always be considered for continual service improvement of the electric cooperative.

Union officers and members were also advised to fully utilize the organized in-plant Labor Management Committee (LMC) that is always ready to assist in the mediation of labor-management disputes in consultation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in order to maintain industrial peace.

The new set of officers likewise plans to enhance the operation of their DOLE-assisted livelihood project on rice retailing which has been operating for years now. The endeavor could provide assistance among members considering its competitive price and availability of good varieties as compared with those in the local market.

A DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) representative also assisted in clarifying member queries from the presentation of its five-year financial statement including questions on some provisions in their constitution and by-laws. ###
