Lal-lo, Cagayan – Beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) workers will be employed to do tree planting and dredging along the Cagayan River as a ceremonial activity was conducted to kickstart the endeavor earlier today.
The event, organized by the Build Back Better (BBB) Task Force which was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 120, s. 2020, was done to ensure rehabilitation and recovery efforts by different national government agencies (NGAs) following flooding caused by numerous typhoons last year.
The dredging aims to widen the Cagayan River to increase its capacity in cases of river swelling to avoid future flooding in adjacent communities.
The task force identified four (4) priority Barangays in Cagayan province namely: Bangag, Lal-lo, Brgy. Casicallan Norte, Gattaran, Brgy. Dummun, Gattaran and Magapit Narrows for the dredging and tree planting activity.
DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III personally attended the event along with DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu and DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade. A program followed at the Lal-lo Municipal Gymnasium.
Also present, in a show of solidarity, were Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba, Isabela Governor Rodito Albano III, Quirino Governor ‘Dakila’ Carlo Cua, Nueva Vizcaya Governor Carlos Padilla and other LGU officials. ###
