DOLE RO2 awards motorized bancas to Gonzaga, Sta. Ana town beneficiaries

A total of 16 motorized bancas were awarded to fisherfolks from the municipalities of Sta. Ana and Gonzaga, Cagayan this weekend, as part of turnover ceremonies conducted last February 5-6, 2021.

The bancas were given after the certificates of award were given at an awarding event conducted in Claveria, Cagayan last January.

As part of the program in Sta. Ana town, a ceremonial launching for the motorized bancas was conducted to ensure its efficiency and usefulness.

Gonzaga and Sta. Ana are part of the 12 coastal towns adjacent to the Cagayan River and the surrounding seas in North Luzon, along with Claveria, Aparri, Ballesteros, Buguey, Sanchez Mira, Sta. Teresita, Pamplona, Abulug, Sta. Praxedes and Calayan, that were prioritized by the agency, in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), for the distribution of the motorized bancas.

The beneficiaries were meanwhile elated that they finally received their bancas and vowed to use the latter for better livelihood opportunities.

The event was attended by DOLE RO2 Regional Director, Atty. Evelyn R. Ramos and other regional office senior staff. ###
