DOLE, DOTr award bancas, NEGO Karts to regional beneficiaries



January 16, 2020 – A total of 100 motorized bancas intended for 300 beneficiaries were awarded to 12 coastal Cagayan municipalities on January 16, 2021, during a ceremony conducted at Claveria, Cagayan.

The 12 coastal towns are adjacent to the Cagayan River and the surrounding seas in North Luzon, namely: Claveria, Aparri, Sta. Ana, Ballesteros, Buguey, Sanchez Mira, Gonzaga, Sta. Teresita, Pamplona, Abulug, Sta. Praxedes and Calayan.

A total amount of P8,890,000.00 was used for the purchase of the bancas, with each banca costing P88,900.00. Three (3) beneficiaries shall own each banca.

The activity was graced by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, Cagayan Governor Manuel N. Mamba and staff from both the DOLE and DOTr.

The secretaries also awarded 100 Nego Karts livelihood to beneficiaries at the Isabela Sports Complex, Ilagan City, Isabela in the afternoon.

Of the total number, 20 beneficiaries came from Cabagan, Isabela, 20 from Cauayan City, 20 from Cabatuan, Isabela, 20 from Ilagan City and 20 from Tumauini, Isabela.

DOLE disbursed a total of P3,000,000.00 for the endeavor, which was also attended by Isabela Governor Rodito Albano III, Isabela Vice Governor Faustino Dy III and LPGMA Party List Congressman Allan U. Ty.

DOLE’s Nego Kart project aims to provide beneficiaries with services that will enable them to efficiently conduct their livelihood trades. Beneficiaries of the project come from marginalized sectors, especially those ambulant workers needing an upgrade in their livelihood endeavor. ###
