DOLE awards more than P400k worth of monetary claim to workers

The DOLE-Isabela Field Office (IFO) recently awarded an aggregate amount of P458,616.00 in monetary benefits to six (6) workers through the agency’s Single-Entry Approach (SEnA) program.

The amount covered the workers’ monetary claims, which centered on non-payment of 13th month pay and separation pay.

Sometime in March 2020, the complainants were retrenched by their employer, resulting to the former’s entitlement to benefits provided by the Labor Code of the Philippines. No payment of benefits was however given to them, which resulted to the parties seeking legal assistance before the DOLE-IFO office.

A phone call and e-mail for a notice of conference was made by the field office on November 12, 2020 which set the mediation seven (7) days after.

After all issues were heard, both parties reached a compromise agreement. The employer agreed to pay the workers an aggregate amount of P458,616.00 representing their 13th month pay and separation pay.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ariel Ulais and his co-workers were elated with the swift processing and prompt release of their claims.

Mabuhay po kayo,” Mr. Ulais said.

Single Entry Approach (SEnA) is a program that settles disputes between workers and employers without going to the labor court to avoid additional expenses and time. In addition, desk officers ensure that requests for assistance that are filed and received are acted upon immediately and that resolutions to work-related concerns are settled at the earliest possible time within a 30-days maximum period. ###
