First batch of DOLE 2’s Bayanihan II TUPAD program benefits 9,058 workers in Region 02

November 17, 2020 – The agency’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), one of the programs intended to benefit COVID-19 affected workers, has started tapping the services of some 9,058 workers in the region recently.

In Isabela province, a total of 842 beneficiary workers has already received their 7 days salary thru money remittance, a move the DOLE calls necessary given the beneficiaries’ need to make ends meet for themselves and their families specially this considering the pandemic and massive flooding in Cagayan and Isabela provinces.

Salaries of beneficiaries from other provinces of the region will soon be given as well.

For this version of the program, 14 days shall be the target number of days for its implementation, up from the usual 10 days, but with daily hours reduced to just four (4) hours a day to minimize the risk of exposure of the beneficiaries to the virus.  The beneficiaries will engage mainly in cleaning and disinfecting communities, especially with the recent flooding as DOLE has been tapped to be part of the government’s rehabilitation plan.

Each beneficiary will receive P5,500.00 from the program.

Senior citizens not exceeding 75 years of age can avail of the program, provided that they present a fit to work certificate to show health and readiness to work. Only one beneficiary per household shall be able to avail of the program as well.

The TUPAD is a community-based (municipality/barangay) package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and unemployed poor.  The program provides a source of income to cope up with lost income and help not only their family but also their community in restoring its lost opportunities. ###
