Kayapa town beneficiaries benefit from DOLE’s Kabuhayan Starter Kits


Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya – A cheque amounting to P552,329.00 intended for beneficiaries of DOLE’s Kabuhayan Starter Kits (DKSK) was awarded by the DOLE – Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) to LGU Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya as its Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) last October 7, 2020.

Some 34 Indigenous People (IP) beneficiaries from various rural barangays in the town will benefit from the said grant, which also includes P140,000.00 as the LGU’s equity for its training expenses and another P1,904.00 for the GSIS coverage of the beneficiaries.


Beneficiaries of the DKSK program have historically engaged in vegetable gardening, regularly shipping their produce to Manila and to other cities in Luzon. But due to the pandemic, travel restrictions affected their commerce and they had to shift to other livelihood endeavors.

The beneficiaries then presented their new initiative to their LGU then in turn was referred to the PESO which complied with the requirements of the agency’s program.

DOLE NVFO also conducted a Business and Wor­k Improvement training for the beneficiaries to maximize their readiness to implement their livelihood while consequently being aware of the health and safety measures that should be followed in this time of pandemic.

The beneficiaries shall engage in livelihood activities in the following areas: baking, carpentry, welding, manicure and pedicure.

LGU Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya Mayor, Elizabeth D. Balasya meanwhile expressed her gratitude for the grant given to beneficiaries while vowing to continue to partner with the agency to curb poverty through job creation.

This kind of help gives us the courage and inspiration to fight and win against poverty… it will help employ people in the community,” the local chief executive said. ###
