DOLE RO2 building better relationship with construction industry partners

Tuguegarao City – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 02 (DOLE RO2) through its Tripartite Industry Peace Council conducted a virtual meeting with the construction industry in the region last September 14, 2020.

The meeting, which was attended by at least 52 construction companies in the region, was held with the goal of finding resolutions to issues and concerns that the industry has as well as recommendations needed for the operational development of the industry.

One of the concerns raised focused on the expired validity of the certificate of trained first aiders and safety officers which was resolved by the council suggesting for the adoption of a resolution that would extend the validity of trained first aiders and safety officers while community quarantines are still,in effect, thereby restricting the availability of trainings and seminars needed for their accreditation during this pandemic.

DOLE RO2 shall lead the adoption of the resolution through online platforms to ensure resolution to the above-mentioned concern and as a safety measure to avoid the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Engr. Joseph Sales, Chief of DOLE RO2’s Technical Services and Support Division (TSSD), said that meetings of this kind need to be conducted regularly to be able to bridge the gap between the construction industry and the government.

These consultations ensure greater cooperation among members of the council and it will in turn increase awareness and participation of the industry in various labor endeavors,” Engr. Sales said. ###
