P31M TUPAD fund awarded by DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III to the Province of Isabela

Ilagan City, Isabela – A check amounting to P31,156,884.00 was recently awarded by DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III along with DOLE RO2 Regional Director, Atty. Evelyn R. Ramos to LGU Cabatuan, Isabela, through Mayor Charlton L. Uy.

The said amount came from DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, a community-based package that offers 10 to 30 days of alternative employment to displaced, underemployed and seasonal workers. LPGMA Congressman, Atty. Alan U. Ty, helped in securing the funds needed for the endeavor.

The said amount will be used for the salaries, personal protective equipment and GSIS group insurance of 8,118 workers from 29 municipalities of Isabela Province.

The endeavor is part of DOLE’s aim to intensify the implementation of its programs and services in the region to battle the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to the livelihood of regional residents.

Meanwhile, Secretary Bello III also joined the Provincial Government of Isabela and LGU San Manuel, Isabela in the distribution of TUPAD salaries of 417 workers from the said town who have completed their work period earlier this year.

The Secretary also led the oath-taking of 31 Foreign National Labor Inspectors who shall be assigned to different DOLE offices in the Region.
