A ray of hope from the precipice of defeat

Nueva Vizcaya - A total of 141 validated retrenchment workers from this province received several severance benefits from their former company recently, as the DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office provided support in the processing of their claims.

The said retrenched workers were released after financial losses were experienced by their former company because of the effects of the pandemic, causing former employees to seek resolution for monetary and non-monetary benefits.

DOLE NVFO for its part facilitated the release of the former employees’ benefits from their former company.

Former employees who held supervisory positions received a package commensurate to 100% of their wage rate of their yearly service while non-supervisory positions received 150% as stipulated under their Collective Bargaining Agreement, to include payment their 13th month pays and monetization of unused leaves.

To be able to further assist the former employees, DOLE issued certificates of unemployment to support the documentary requirements in applying for cash assistance to Small Business Wage Subsidy (SBWS) Program of SSS and DOF, DOLE’s Abot Kamay ang Pag-asa (AKAP) Program and the reintegration program for displaced OFWs, the Balik-Pinas Balik-Hanapbuhay (BPBH).

The DOLE-NVFO has also been closely coordinating with the 12 PESOs in the province. The list of reported displaced workers is forwarded to respective LGUs for proper conduct of profiling and validation and referred to DOLE Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) or concerned agencies for appropriate assistance.

The former employees meanwhile are elated that they have already received their severance benefits with the assistance given by DOLE, noting that the benefits will go a long way towards sustaining their needs as they look for job opportunities in the midst of this pandemic.
