DOLE Region 02 bares assistance given to beneficiaries during quarantine period

 

Tuguegarao City – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 02 (DOLE RO2) has provided cash assistance to some 72,456 beneficiaries as part of its COVID-19 mitigating measures, according to the latest data from the labor office.

The said beneficiaries, who were cumulatively given a total amount of P332, 483,660.00.00, were from four (4) DOLE programs, namely: CAMP, TUPAD #BKBK, AKAP and SAP for Sugar Workers.

The CAMP (COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program) provides a one-time P5,000.00 assistance to qualified formal sector workers affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). The program has served 22,000 beneficiaries across 2,816 establishments in the region with a total amount of P110,000,000.00 disbursed.

The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) #Barangay Ko, Bahay Ko! (#BKBK) Disinfecting/Sanitation Project meanwhile targets affected informal sector workers, providing 10 days of work equivalent to the highest minimum wage rate in the region. The project has so far aided 48,667 beneficiaries with a total distributed amount of P208,787,660.00.

Eligible Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who have experienced job displacement due to the ECQ or those who contracted the COVID-19 disease were also given a one-time P10,000.00 cash assistance through the AKAP (Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong) Assistance Program, with the Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration (OWWA) taking charge in the processing of program applications.

A total of 1,323 OFWs were served by the AKAP program in the region with grants distributed totaling P13,230,000.00. More than 1,300 additional beneficiaries are to be paid in the coming days as it aims to dis­­burse the total amount of P26,470,000.00 for the program.

Rounding out the programs is the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) for Sugar Field and Mill Workers which gives P1,000.00 cash aid to qualified field and mill workers. The program has so far extended assistance to 466 beneficiaries and P466,000.00 in total amount disbursed.

DOLE Regional Director, Atty. Evelyn R. Ramos, said that the regional office shall continue to assist affected workers through its COVID-19 mitigating measures while consequently preparing for the agency’s recovery plan as the region transitions to a work environment in a “new normal” setting. ### by: Chester Carlo M.
