DOLE NVFO releases Starter Kit packages to 26 skilled workers

Some 26 skilled workers from Bonfal West, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya gladly received their Starter Kit packages with a total project cost of P633,529.00 purposely to enhance their current livelihood undertaking after undergoing the skills enhancement training facilitated by the TESDA & the LGU PESO.

The DOLE allocated the amount of P478,569.00 for the tools/gigs, merchandize/supplies and additional seed capital in augmenting their present businesses which they have long been engaging out of their acquired skills like masonry/carpentry/plumbing servicing (6), welding (7), tailoring (1), baking (2), hair & nail care home servicing (3), street food & native delicacies vending (6) and carinderia (1).

Likewise, the LGU of Bayombong as the accredited co-partner extended the amount of P135,000.00 to finance the trainings needed to equip the beneficiaries with the capability to sustain their projects and for the monitoring and evaluation activities to be conducted by the LGU PESO.

As a result of the project evaluation / appraisal of the DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO), the proposal of the 26 beneficiaries came out to be very feasible considering the opportunity of each beneficiary to produce additional income by maintaining their strategies that products / services are sold / rendered to different customers which they could easily reach and meet regularly such as local residents, commuters and households.

Further, the implementation of the Starter Kit Package project addresses the local issue on underemployment and insufficiency of operating capital needed to produce an income to support their way of living beyond the poverty threshold level in the region.

Some of them even claim that their enhanced livelihood undertakings which are commonly needed by customers could establish a gainful and decent job in the long run and ultimately support them as they reach beyond their retirement age.

Then LGU of Bayombong, on the other hand, committed to support the implementation of the program by regularly monitoring the projects owned and managed by the beneficiaries thru their Project Implementation and Management Team (PIMT). Further, the LGU leadership thanked the DOLE family for extending assistance to their needy constituents in uplifting their poor living condition. (END/Gerardo M. Nicolas)
