89M DOLE TUPAD Fund Benefits Province of Isabela

 

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan --- DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III personally turned – over to the Provincial Government of Isabela through Hon. Rodito T. Albano III, Provincial Governor, the check amounting to ?89,348,400.00 under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Program (TUPAD).

Sec. Bello underscored that the commitment of the agency in the implementation of TUPAD program in Region 2 remains strong to help reduce underemployment among the disadvantaged workers and provide emergency employment for displaced workers. He also stated that they never anticipated the onslaught of Typhoon Sarah, but relieved that help was assured beforehand.

Batid naming marami sa ating mga kababayan dito ang nawalan ng hanapbuhay dahil sa bagyo. Ito ang aming munting tulong para naman ay maging masaya pa rin ang pagsalubong niyo sa pasko at bagong taon. We at the department continuously exert effort to bring all the programs of DOLE to everyone, most especially those who are considered disadvantaged/ displaced workers,” Sec. Bello said.

Present also during the awarding was Atty. Evelyn R. Ramos, Regional Director of DOLE – R02 together with OIC - Assistant Regional Director Atty. Sophia E. Matote and DOLE Isabela Field Office staff headed by Ms. Grace A. Pomar.

Beneficiaries were given ten (10) days to render community works with a daily wage rate of ?360.00 minimum wage rate in the region.  As an additional benefit, they were also enrolled in group micro – insurance for one (1) year and provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). (END/JVP/RBE)
