DOLE 2 to spearhead labor day job fair; 4K vacancies up for jobseekers

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan --- Over 4, 240 job vacancies will be offered by local companies and overseas employment agencies, all set for the 2019 Labor Day Trabaho, Negosyo, at Kabuhayan (TNK) Caravan which will be held at F.L Dy Coliseum, Cauayan City, Isabela during the Labor Day celebration.

Of the total vacancies offered, 2, 245 are for local employment and 2, 004 are for overseas employment. “More important than these vacancies, we want to see more job seekers to be hired on the spot during the job fair,” DOLE 2 Regional Director Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol said.

Positions for local employment include production and packaging operators, customer service representatives, sales agents, drivers, and cashiers. Overseas employment also consists of production and packaging operators, skilled workers, and registered nurses.

“This job fair is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh graduates, graduate of training institutions, and displaced workers,” said Dir. Mirasol. She also reminded jobseekers to be ready with their biodata or resume together with their transcript of records and other important documents.

Aside from employment opportunities for job seekers, there will also be a trade fair showcasing DOLE 2 and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) R02 assisted organizations, awarding of OWWA Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program beneficiaries, National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) Livelihood Development Assistance Program, and DOLE livelihood grants.

One – stop employment services will also be provided by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, and the National Labor Relations Commission.

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will also offer services and vocational trainings, while the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) through partner/private contractors will launch the ‘Build, Build, Build’ Program which allots job vacancies under government projects.

DOLE’s job and business fair in partnership with other government agencies is one of their ways to continuously bring employment opportunities closer to the people. (END/JVP/RBE)
