DOLE 2 awards ₱1M livelihood starter kits to 51 skilled workers

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan --- Fifty one (51) skilled workers from Gonzaga, Cagayan are now ready to start their business undertaking after receiving Kabuhayan Starter Kit amounting to 1,007,000.00 through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) of the Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office No. 2 (DOLE 2).

Each beneficiary received 20,000.00 amount of tools and jigs for carpentry, foot spa, body massage, and hair and make-up. They were also given orientation and training as part of enhancing their skills and become profitable and successful business persons.

DOLE Regional Director Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol said that the Starter Kit project will open windows for opportunities to all beneficiaries and improve their living condition if they will be able to raise successfully their businesses.

“The department has been providing programs like the Kabuhayan Starter Kit to help in the improvement of the lives of those who belong to the informal sector. There is no need for you to pay back, but there is one thing that we ask from you and that is to nurture it,” Director Mirasol said.

DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit is a livelihood formation strategy that is intended to bring about improved socio – economic wellbeing of workers in the informal economy, in group/sectors with special concerns, and displaced wage workers and their families.


The project provides livelihood starter kit consisting of a package of tools and jigs that will enable the beneficiaries to start up a business and become self – employed. (END/JVP/RBE)
