102 Workers benefit from NVFO’s 87.7% settlement rate on SEnA
DOLE NVFO OIC Engr. Joseph B. Sales disclosed that some 102 workers who sought the assistance of the Office regarding labor-related problems were part of the 87.7% settlement rate and with a disposition rate of 100% attained for the first 6 months of this year as accomplishment under the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) program involving the amount of settlement of about P857,377.56 in handling 65 complaints.

In a report presented by OIC Sales during one of the DOLE’s Regional Man-Com meeting recently held on July 9, 2018 at Quirino Field Office (QFO) in Cabarroguis, Quirino, said accomplishment on the settlement of cases handled has benefitted 79 workers locally employed in the private sector and the repatriated 23 distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

In a separate report, NVFO was able to reach 79% settlement rate for cases handled involving those workers engaged in local employment and awarded the total amount of settlement of about P 529,817.56.  Said workers encountered employment problems on illegal dismissal, refund of cash bond, underpayment / non-payment of salaries and services rendered on overtime, regular holiday, night shift & rest day among others.

On the other hand, 96% significant settlement rate involving the amount of about P327,560.00 was attained benefiting 23 distressed OFW having problems on non-payment of salaries & rest day work, refund of repatriation expense and illegal deductions from wages.

Generous POEA - Licensed Recruitment Agencies (LRAs) also extend financial assistance aside from their obligation of repatriating said distressed OFWs.

Likewise, these distressed OFWs were referred to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) for livelihood fund assistance.

Affected workers especially the distressed OFWs fully appreciate the implementation of the SEnA program that facilitates fast and prompt resolution of their labor – related issues/claims.  “Ang pagkakaareglo sa aking complaint ay malaking tulong na nagdudulot ng agarang pagbangon at muling makabawi sa pagkakalugmok sa isang di makakalimutang trahedya sa ibang bansa at nagpapasalamat din po ako sa livelihood na ibibigay ng gobyerno natin na kailangang palaguin ko para hindi ko na kailangang lumayo at mangibang bansa para kumita ng pera para sa mga anak ko”, a distressed OFW gladly narrated.

OIC Sales also emphasized that the implementation of the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) program serves as an effective tool in the speedy resolution of labor – related cases within 30 days as set in its guidelines.  “DOLE NVFO has contributed to the region’s SEnA accomplishment in amicably settling complaints at an average period of settlement of 11 days”, he also added.
