DOLE provides emergency employment to affected farmers

DOLE Regional Office 02 thru the Nueva Vizcaya Field Office’ (NVFO) OIC - Engr. Joseph B. Sales released the wages of affected marginalized farmers in the municipality of Quezon as remuneration of their services rendered under the Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa disadvantaged/displaced (TUPAD) workers of the DOLE.

The said undertaking is intended to ease or prevent the distressing effects of natural calamities as a result on the impairment of agricultural undertakings which is the main source of livelihood in the said municipality.

The total package of assistance is P176,250.00.  It comprises the payment of wages for the 20-day work at P300.00/day of the 25 beneficiaries and the premium for their GSIS Group Personal Accident Insurance at P50.00/beneficiary amounting to P151,250.00.         In addition, the LGU extended its counter-part amounting to P20,000.00 for the project’s incidental expenses and supervision.  The beneficiaries also purchased tools as their counterpart amounting to P5,000.00.

Mayor Dolores B. Binwag of the LGU of Quezon, as the accredited co-partner of the program, identified the scope of work for the 25 beneficiaries as follows:  de-clogging of irrigation canals, cleaning of drainage canal and cleaning of esteros.  

The lady Local Chief Executive (LCE) expressed her gratitude in behalf of her constituents and also stated her hopes that more assistance will be extended by the DOLE in her municipality.
