DOLE strengthens members of Workers’ Organizations in the province

The recently conducted capability building training in the province of Nueva Vizcaya was attended by Trade Union officers and members from different workers’ organizations in the private sector.

Through the Workers’ Organization and Development Program of the DOLE, workers and their organization are strengthened on their capability of advocating DOLE programs that address the needs of trade unions by way of increasing their awareness on the aspects of trade unionism, workers’ empowerment and sound labor-management relations.

DOLE RO2 Regional Director Manuel C. Roldan, in his message, highly appreciated and thanked the cooperation shown by the trade union members and their respective employers through their attendance to the seminar.  “This initiative signals the willingness of both labor and management in supporting and upholding the right of workers to self-organization and collective bargaining”, he added.

Participants were abreast with the latest update on the DOLE’s issuances under DO #s 40-1-15, 147-15, 151-16, 174-17 and AO 164.  Also the following topics were discussed: Batas Kasambahay, Productivity and Labor Management, WODP, Grievance Handling, Voluntary Arbitration, Labor Management Cooperation (LMC), Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), Anti-Child Labor Advocacy, Gender and Development, Occupational Safety and Health Standards and the Employees Compensation Program.

Meanwhile, DOLE NVFO OIC, Engr. Joseph B. Sales reported that among those who attended the capability building seminar are the following: Samahan ng mga Manggagawa sa Global Heavy Equipment and Construction Corporation  from the Global Heavy Equipment and Construction Corporation; Runruno Friends of Highland Group Union from the FCF Minerals Corporation; SMU Employees’ Union from the Saint Mary’s University; NUVELCO Employees Labor Union & NUVELCO Supervisors Labor Union from the  NUVELCO; Pun-OH-OHHAAN-HI KIPHODAN Organization from the Oceana Gold Phil., Inc.; and, Employees Union of Rural Bank of Bayombong – Supervisory Employees & Employees Union of Rural Bank of Bayombong – Rank & File of the Rural Bank of Bayombong, Inc.
