DOLE 2 allocates ₱1M as livelihood assistance for 100 skilled workers

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan---In an effort to reduce poverty in the country side, the Department of Labor and Employment - Regional Office 2 (DOLE 2) recently approved a total amount of ₱1,031,765.00 as livelihood assistance to 100 skilled workers of Allacapan, Cagayan.

According to DOLE 2 Regional Director, Manuel C. Roldan, the said livelihood assistance will be in the form of Starter Kit.  It will benefit 25 carpenters, 14 tailors, 3 electricians, 22 hair and make-up artists, 8 welders, 13 fresh produce vendors and 8 caterers among others.

“The identified beneficiaries will receive tools and jigs ranging from ₱9,000 to ₱15,000 which include grinder, portable sewing machines, portable welding machines, cooking equipment, hair and make-up kit, etc., which will enable them to start their own business,” Roldan said.

A two-day Training/Seminar regarding Social Preparation, Entrepreneurial Development Training and Simple Bookkeeping will also be given to the beneficiaries to hone their skills and ensure that they will succeed in managing their business.

The Public Employment Service Office of Allacapan will take part in safeguarding and monitoring of the individual projects.

DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit project is designed to boost the capacities of marginalized informal sector, displaced and other disadvantaged workers, and the families of OFW to operate a livelihood quickly to alleviate unemployment and reduce poverty. (END/JVP/RBE)
