DOLE 2 to spearhead Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan Caravan on Labor Day

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan---In order to provide more jobs and promote entrepreneurship at the grassroot level, the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office No. 2 (DOLE 2) will spearhead the conduct of simultaneous Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) Caravan to celebrate the upcoming 2017 Labor Day in Region 2 according to Regional Director, Manuel C. Roldan. 

“The TNK which features Job and Business Fairs and it will be conducted at People’s Gymnasium, Tuguegarao City while another Job Fair is slated at LGU Ilagan City, Isabela,” Dir. Roldan said.

“We will be inviting local employers and overseas recruitment agencies for the 2 Job Fairs while employers in the Key Employment Generators will also be invited for the Business Fairs,” Dir. Roldan added. 

The two job fairs, which is a joint effort of DOLE 2 and LGUs of Tuguegarao City and Ilagan City, will be simultaneously conducted on May 1. 

The Business Fair is the first of its kind to be conducted during Labor Day.  It is an innovation of the current administration to further promote decent job and responsible entrepreneurship.  Employers will be invited to take part in the discussion on contractualization, general labor standards and occupational safety and health standards.  It is a joint undertaking with the Department of Trade and Industry.

Dir. Roldan is inviting fresh graduates, returning OFWs, and other job seekers to grab the opportunities being offered by the two Job Fairs.  He is advising applicants to bring credentials necessary for job applications such as Resume, Transcript of Records, Certificate of Trainings, ID pictures, NBI and or Police clearance, Certificates of Employment, and passports for those who intend to apply for overseas employment.

The Job Fair is one of the special programs of DOLE in partnership with Public Employment Service Offices, other government agencies, academic institutions, local and overseas employers, and non-government agencies.  It is a tool to fast-tract employment by bringing together employers/ recruitment agencies and jobseekers in one venue at a specific date in order to reduce cost, time and effort on the part of jobseekers and employers.

To facilitate job-skills matching for the Tuguegarao City Job Fair, job seekers are encouraged to pre-register on 27-28 April 2017, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at DOLE 2, Regional Government Center, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.  An employment clinic will also be provided featuring orientation on basic rights of workers, contractualization, career coaching, career information, dispute resolution, and livelihood opportunities on said dates.

Aside from the Job and Business Fairs, the Cagayan Valley Occupational Safety and Health Network will spearhead a Fun Run dubbed as “Takbo Kontra Stress” on May 1 which will start at around 5:00 in the morning at the Cagayan Sports Complex, Tuguegarao City.

Also, the DOLE and its attached agencies namely the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Professional Regulations Commission, National Labor Relations Commission, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, Employees Compensation Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Center and the National Reintegration Center for OFWs will conduct services caravan.  Other partner agencies like the Social Security System, Philhealth and Pag-Ibig will also be invited to promote their services to the job seekers.
