DOLE 2 awards financial assistance to remote Quirino town

CABARROGUIS, Quirino---The Local Government Unit of Nagtipunan in Quirino province has recently received a total amount of 791,190.00 from the Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office No. 2 (DOLE 2) through its Quirino Field Office.

The said amount will benefit 50 ambulant-vendors and 40 members of the Ponggo Furniture Workers Product Producers Association of the Municipality according to Maria Theresa T. Ronquillo, Head of DOLE Qurino Field Office.

“It will enhance the existing livelihood undertakings of the ambulant-vendors and the furniture makers in order to increase their income,” Ronquillo said.   

Mayor Nieverose Meneses of Nagtipunan said the DOLE”s assistance is a blessing that come at the time when the people are in need.

“The DOLE’s livelihood assistance is timely since my constituents are still recovering from the effects of Typhoons ‘Karen’ and ‘Lawin’”, Meneses said.

Meneses stressed that the continuous provision of support from DOLE 2 to Nagtipunan has given her constituents a boost of morale.  She pledged her support and collaboration with the agency’s programs and projects.

Nagtipunan is the farthest municipality of Quirino province.  It has an estimated population of 20,400 in 2010.  Majority of which are Ilokanos, Ifugaos, and Bugkalots. (END/KRA/RBE)
