Quirino town receives ₱1.45 M financial assistance from DOLE 2

CABARROGUIS, Quirino---The Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office No. 2 (DOLE 2) through its Quirino Field Office has recently awarded 1.45 million to the Local Government Unit of Saguday of Quirino province.

The said amount according to Maria Theresa T. Ronquillo, Head of the Qurino Field Office, will finance various livelihood projects of 151 beneficiaries and emergency employment of 30 displaced workers.

The beneficiaries of the livelihood assistance; which are solo parents, 4Ps beneficiaries, and farmers; will venture into fossilized flowers and bamboo crafts making.

Mayor Marcelina Pagbilao of Saguday expressed her heartfelt gratitude to DOLE 2 for the financial assistance that is intended to uplift the living condition of her constituents.

“Salamat sa patuloy na pagsuporta at pagtulong sa aming maliliit na munisipyo at sa pagpapaunlad sa ikinabubuhay ng aking mga kababayang kapus palad,” Mayor Pagbilao said.

She also challenged the beneficiaries to safeguard the livelihood assistance.

“Pagbutihin ang ibinigay na biyaya, pagyamanin at bigyan ng importansya, dahil minsan lang ito at huwag ito sasayangin,” Mayor Pagbilao stated.

Mayor Pagbilao also further conveyed that through DOLE’s programs and services, she have seen improvements and changes in the lives of her constituents.  She said that an ambulant vendor, a previous recipient of Negosyo sa Kariton of DOLE 2, have been able to send her children to school and is still continually improving her small business venture. She hopes that the new recipients will emulate the dedication and perseverance of the said vendor.

The financial assistance came from the DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment (DILEEP).  It is the DOLE’s contribution in the government’s aim of poverty reduction through creation of self-employment and augmentation of income.

The emergency employment, which is usually activated just after a calamity like typhoon and drought, aims to provide immediate source of income to displaced workers. (END/KRA/RBE)
