First Job fair this 2013 slated in Tuguegarao City

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan---The Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office No. 2 in partnership with the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines (MCNP) will conduct the first job fair in Region 2 this 2013 on Friday, February 8.

The job fair, which will be conducted at the MCNP Gymnasium, is expected to be participated by at least 10 local employers and 2 overseas recruitment agencies.

Some of the vacancies solicited are nurse, care giver, radiologic technologist, medical technologist, physical therapist, housekeeper/maintenance staff, information/concierge staff, dietary personnel, store manager, credit investigator/collector, merchandiser, inventory data specialist, sales personnel, system specialist, warehouse manager, key account specialist, petty cash custodian, hotel attendant, and many more.

“We advise the would be applicants to bring credentials such as Resume, Transcript of Records, Certificate of Trainings, ID pictures, NBI and or Police clearance and passport for those who intend to apply for overseas employment,” Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr., DOLE Region 2 Director said.

“The Job Fair Program is one of the special programs being undertaken by DOLE in partnership with LGUs or private institutions, and employers. The Job Fair is intended to facilitate employment by bringing together employers/recruitment agencies and jobseekers in one venue at a specific date,” Atty. Rodriguez added.

In the Job Fair, the applicants are given the opportunity to choose positions to which they qualify from among the job vacancies posted by various employers. At the same time, the employers can interview applicants and consider those who fit their manpower requirements. Thus, employment facilitation takes place at less cost, time and efforts on the part of both job seekers and employers.

During Job Fair, many applicants found qualified still have to report to the companies for trade testing or medical examinations. However, in some instances, there are applicants who get lucky and are called “hired on the spot”.

The Job Fair has become DOLE’s response to requests for employment assistance. It has become a means of reaching out to the unemployed, giving them access to available job opportunities.

In 2012, 45 job fairs were conducted throughout the region 2 registering 8,097 job seekers in which 699 of them were hired on the spot.
