DOLE – R02 Releases P1.04 Million for Typhoon “Juan” Victims

Our municipality of Tumauini , Isabela was one of the hardest hit by typhoon “Juan”.  Many farms and public buildings were destroyed.  Thus we are very thankful for the DOLE assistance for the repair of 7 Day Care Centers as it will benefit our farmers, Day Care pupils and the whole community.”  This was the response of Mayor Venus Grace T. Bautista during the release of the Emergency Employment Assistance Project (EEAP) amounting to P365,460.00.  DOLE counterpart is the labor cost for 60 workers while LGU-Tumauini will shoulder tools and materials needed for the project.

For Ilagan, Isabela which was hardest hit by typhoon “Juan” and flash floods, the amount of P233,290.00 was released for the repair of Rural Health Units.  For Cabagan, Isabela which immediately requested funds for the repair of school buildings, the amount of P336,140.00 was released.  Burgos, Isabela was also awarded with P105,750.00 for the repair of Farm-to-Market Roads.  Mayor Ruben A. Tegui was very happy to receive the check saying that the money will surely help his constituents.  A total of 210 workers will benefit from the emergency employment project of 4 municipalities in Isabela.  There are 3 more municipalities in Isabela to be awarded EEAP funds: Delfin Albano, Cauayan City and Alicia with a total budget of P628,000.00.

The release of funds totalling to P1,040,640.00 by Regional Director Grace Y. Ursua was held at Hotel Lorita, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on December 7, 2010.  It was also attended by Isabela DOLE Field Office Staff headed by Mr. Antonio Abucot. 

The program is one of the lined-up activities for the month-long celebration of DOLE 77th founding anniversary this December, 2010.  The said awarding is also in line with President Aquino’s 22-point agenda for labor and employment specifically on the strengthening of the emergency employment program to immediately create jobs.
